I don't want to go over all of it here in this podcast. That's not the point, but wanted to kind of throw that out there to you. So here we go. We're going to get into the devotional today. My name will be great. And this is a declaration that God throws out there while his priesthood is actually not doing so great. So here's the devotional reading God's plan was and still is to sanctify people so that in turn, they will sanctify his name in the earth. The word sanctify means to set apart for a purpose, God sanctified or set Israel part for a purpose long ago. And in Christ, we have been grafted into that same purpose. What is that purpose?
Speaker 1 00:02:43 As we live, according to God's principles, we set ourselves apart as different from the rest of the world. When we do that, we draw attention to the greatness of God. We bring honor and glory to him. We demonstrate to the world. He is the only way. So at a time when Israel was failing in their faithfulness to God, we see this declaration and Malakai. So kind of think about this. Israel is not doing so good in her leadership or faithfulness to God. The priesthood was bomb and huge, just like we do guys. It's hard to, it's hard to make ourselves look much better. So he makes this, his, uh, this powerful declaration. And he actually in the declaration uses the word profane. And that describes the condition of their lifestyles, which were corrupt. So the question for us is, are we living according to the ways and instructions his ways and instructions, or are we profaning his name?
Speaker 1 00:03:44 God reminded Israel that despite the way they were living, his name was still great among the nations. And a time would come when they would. They would, once again, live in the purity of purpose, he desired. So we would be pro God says, don't profane my name by your lifestyle. So you've got to keep that attached to lifestyle. God makes us decoration, no matter how you're living right now, you're profaning my name, which is not good. That's not a good thing. And God was saying, despite how you're living right now, my name is still going to be great. My name is great among the nations. So it's pretty awesome. When you think about how God's faithful, even when we're faithless, all right, back to the devotion, here we go. For those of us living in the 21st century, the question is, are we honoring or profaning the name of God with our lifestyles, a set apart, people are consumed with the beauty of God and in turn, reflect that wonder to the world around us, by how we live.
Speaker 1 00:04:43 This is an interesting concept because our religious spirit, a religious spirit will distort our authentic pursuit of God by emphasizing perfection and focusing on outcomes. This emphasis on external outcomes as a way to elevate ourselves over others as if we were better than them, true relationship or crisis Rudin in abiding in him, not over focusing on outcomes and external forms of religion. Grace is training us to be faithful, training us, to abide and to walk in great devotion to Christ as zeal for his house consumes our way of living and thinking. We find ourselves being changed from the inside, which then translates to outcomes that set us apart from the world and testify to the greatness of God's power to transform. God is looking for those who will walk with him and allow him to govern their hearts with his kingdom rule and reign. As we mature in our journey, we learned that it is not about perfection, but pursuit of the living God, God's, God equips us with the holy spirit and the power of his grace to train us, to follow his ways. When we walk in obedience to him, we make his name great where we are and among the nations. All right. So closing action. Step questions for this devotional is, are there areas of your life where you're profaning the name of God? What can you do to increase your time? Spent a biting with him and gazing on his beauty and majesty. Well, hope you enjoy this devotional until next time live upright.
